Scoliosis

Align 33 Chiropractic can help patients suffering from scoliosis…

Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person’s spine is curved from side to side. The spine of an individual with scoliosis can resemble an “S” rather than a straight line. Scoliosis is typically classified as either congenital (caused by vertebral anomalies present at birth), idiopathic (cause unknown, sub-classified as infantile, juvenile, adolescent, or adult, according to when onset occurred), or secondary scoliosis (can be the result of a neuromuscular condition). Here at Align 33 Chiropractic we can use our physical and chiropractic treatments to help reduce the pain caused from scoliosis.

What kind of treatment is best for me?

Treatment of scoliosis is often determined by the severity of the curve and the likelihood of the curve getting worse. The type of scoliosis may increase the chance of it worsening, so determining the type of scoliosis can help determine the proper treatment. Often those suffering from degenerative scoliosis will have more complaints of back and leg pain. This pain is related to the arthritis in the back and possible compression of the nerve roots that lead to the legs. Noninvasive treatment including physical therapy, exercises, and gentle chiropractic can help relieve these symptoms in some cases. At Align 33 Chiropractic we will assess your body and discuss the pain you are experiencing to determine the best treatment for you scoliosis.
