Our professionals here at Coastline Therapy Center will ensure they put your comfort and wellbeing first when providing a deep tissue massage however we do tell our patients to expect more intensity during their deep tissue massages.
Who needs a deep tissue massage?
Often deep tissue massages are suited for patients who suffer from chronic muscle tension or injury wherein the pain is severe and rooted deep within the muscles and tissues. Typically patients who would benefit form deep tissues massages are those who have ‘adhesions’ that are causing them pain. Adhesions are bands of painful, rigid tissue that are typically found in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Adhesions have been known to block circulation, cause limited movement, and inflammation in the effected area. During your deep tissue massage our team will work to physically break down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement to your body.
Will my deep tissue massage hurt?
Everyone has a different pain threshold and during a deep tissue massage the goal is to reach and treat the tissue deep in your body, which means at the time you may experience some discomfort. We ask our patients to inform our team if they experience any pain or soreness as a result of the massage. Our priority is to ensure your upmost comfort and wellbeing, if your massage is too hard we encourage you to let us know so we can adjust the pressure and maintain your comfort. After your deep tissue massage patients usually experience some stiffness or pain, however it should subside within a day or two.
